An Electric Motor Recycling Machine is a set of mechanical equipment used to dismantle and separate copper wire, aluminum, iron, and plastic from waste electric motors. Through cutting, crushing, magnetic separation, and non-ferrous metal sorting, it transforms structurally complex waste motors into metal products that are easy to sell and reuse.
Motor Dismantling: Selecting Equipment Based on Structure
The structures of waste electric motors are not entirely the same. Small household appliance motors, industrial motors, automotive motors, and compressor motors differ in size, winding type, and casing material. Therefore, recycling lines typically do not process everything with a single machine. Instead, they are configured with a motor dismantling machine, stator copper wire cutter, copper wire puller, shredder, or hammer crusher, depending on the type of raw material.

Electric Motor Recycling Machine for Copper and Iron Recovery
For motors with high-value copper windings and relatively intact stator structures, copper wire cutting and hydraulic wire pulling equipment can be used first to pull the windings out of the silicon steel sheet slots as a whole. This method reduces excessive crushing of the copper wire, obtaining a relatively intact copper wire bundle while retaining the stator core as separate material.
Crushing and Magnetic Separation: Gradually Separating Iron, Copper, and Aluminum
After initial dismantling, the material enters a hammer crusher or secondary crushing equipment. Its purpose is not simply to grind the motor as finely as possible, but rather to fully separate the copper windings from the iron core and aluminum components, while controlling the degree of over-grinding of the copper.
The crushed mixture first enters a magnetic separator. Utilizing the magnetic difference between ferromagnetic materials and copper and aluminum, ferrous metals such as iron and silicon steel can be continuously separated. For high-volume production lines, multi-stage magnetic separation can reduce the proportion of iron material entering subsequent non-ferrous metal sorting equipment.
Equipment Configuration of a Complete Electric Motor Recycling Line
For continuous processing requirements, a complete Electric Motor Recycling Machine can typically be designed as follows:
Feed Conveyor → Pre-dismantling Equipment → Twin-Shaft Shredder → Hammer Crusher → Magnetic Separator → Air Classifier → Eddy Current Separator → Vibrating Screen → Dust Removal System.
From an equipment design perspective, “crushed particle size” is not necessarily better the smaller it is. Excessive crushing can increase energy consumption and dust, while also making the copper wire, aluminum, and plastic mix even finer, which in turn increases the difficulty of subsequent sorting. Therefore, the core of motor recycling equipment is not simply to pursue crushing speed, but to configure it around “full dissociation + reasonable particle size + stable sorting”.
