1. What is XLP wire?

XLP wire (XLPE insulated wire) uses cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) as the insulation layer. It has the characteristics of high temperature resistance (above 90°C), high insulation and anti-aging. It is widely used in power transmission, underground cables and new energy fields. Waste XLP wire contains copper/aluminum conductors and recyclable XLPE plastics, which have high recycling value.

2. XLP wire shredder equipment configuration

In view of the characteristics of XLP wire, special shredders are usually configured with:

Double-axis shearing knife disc: high-strength alloy knives that can crush copper and aluminum cables with insulation layers.

Magnetic separation and sorting system: Separate metal conductors (copper/aluminum) from non-metallic insulation layers.

Dust removal device: Reduce dust pollution generated during the crushing process.

Intelligent control system: Adjust the rotation speed and feed speed to adapt to different wire diameters (1mm²~240mm²).

3. Workflow

Feed crushing: The whole bundle of XLP wires is fed into the shredder, and the knife shaft shears and crushes it into granules.

Sorting and separation: metal and XLPE plastic are separated by vibrating screen and airflow sorting.

Collection and packaging: copper/aluminum particles can be directly smelted, and XLPE plastic can be granulated for reuse.

4. Significance of recycling

Resource circulation: recycling copper and aluminum metals reduces the demand for mineral mining, and XLPE plastic can be processed into recycled particles.

Environmental protection and emission reduction: avoid pollution caused by incineration and landfill, in line with the carbon neutrality policy.

Economic value: 1 ton of waste XLP wires can extract about 50%~70% of copper/aluminum, which is profitable.
